WHAT TO PACK FOR A TRIP TO THE AMALFI COAST

The moment has arrived: you're staring at your empty suitcase before leaving for your trip to the Amalfi Coast and you don't know where to start! Well, you've come to the right place! Here are all the tips you need to prepare yourself in the best possible way and, above all, to make sure you don't forget the essentials!

It is not always easy to decide what to take with you when you are about to go on a trip: obviously, the first thing to do is to check the climate of your destination and get an idea of what kind of terrain you will find on arrival and what activities you will be doing on vacation.
As for the Amalfi Coast, the climate here is Mediterranean: hot in summer, mild in spring/fall. However, you need to take into account the differences between the villages at sea level (Positano, Amalfi, etc.) and those in the hills (Ravello, Scala, etc.), where, of course, you may find temperatures a few degrees lower.

Positano

Lightweight but strategic suitcase depending on the season

If you are planning a trip in the fall or winter, the essentials to bring with you are definitely sweaters, light jackets, and closed-toe shoes. It is rare for it to be really cold on the coast, but you may encounter rain, so please don't forget a folding umbrella and a rain jacket!
For spring and summer, on the other hand, the must-haves are light dresses, swimsuits, sarongs, hats, and sunglasses! Even in this case, however, I recommend wearing comfortable shoes to better tackle the many narrow streets and stairways of the coastal villages... believe me, they will save you!

What not to forget based on your activities

Once you've checked the weather, let's move on to the activities you'll be doing on vacation.
If you plan to explore the beaches, rent a boat, or simply lie in the sun to get a tan, you'll need a beach towel, flip-flops (or shoes for the rocks), a waterproof bag, high-protection sunscreen, and, why not, a snorkeling set!
On the Amalfi Coast, in addition to the villages that climb high up the hillsides, there are also some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Italy! If you want to tackle them, however, you need to consider a few essential things: always carry a light backpack with you to store a water bottle, a power bank for your cell phone, a hat and sunscreen to protect you from the strong sun, a rain jacket if the weather is uncertain, and of course, wear shoes suitable for rough terrain!

What to leave at home

As I mentioned earlier, with all the uphill streets, paths, and stairways, I would suggest leaving your high heels at home. You should also avoid bringing luggage that is too large and bulky: not only is it difficult to manage in the villages, but it is also a burden if you need to travel by public transport, whether by bus or ferry. Finally, you won't need formal clothes (unless you've booked a dinner at a fancy restaurant!): it's definitely better to bring versatile, casual clothes with you.

A few extras for a touch of Italian style

Of course, appearances matter too! If you want to add a touch of Italian style to your outfit, then don't forget to pack some linen or cotton clothes, white or colored, scarves, or designer sunglasses. You'll see, you'll feel like a true local!

In conclusion, the must-haves for any trip to the Amalfi Coast include comfortable shoes and everything you need to be prepared for any weather conditions, as well as useful technological devices such as power banks, chargers, and adapters for Italian sockets. Be sure to travel light! That's the only way to fully enjoy the walks, streets, and magnificent views of the villages in this corner of Paradise.
