1. The Villa Comunale

A short walk from the historic center is a gate that opens onto a wonderful view! Vietri's Villa Comunale is a small public park overlooking the sea, where the avenues and walkways are decorated with the city's typical majolica tiles of a thousand colors. It will remind you of the Parc Guell in Barcelona!

2. The Vietrese Ceramics' Museum

As I have already mentioned, Vietri is famous for the production of majolica and has dedicated an entire museum to it! Housed in the beautiful Villa Guariglia, here you can admire all kinds of objects made from Vietri ceramics. A small but very interesting piece of the city's culture!

3. St. John the Baptist's Church

Dating back to the Middle Ages, the Church of St. John the Baptist is the religious center of the town of Vietri. Consisting of a single nave, it stands out over the town with its marvelous tiled dome. Also, look up at the façade: right on the entrance portal is an oculus decorated with an image of the saint made -of course- in colored ceramics.

4. Vietri Marina

Walking down from the Old Town, one reaches the marina of Vietri, where the most popular summer beaches and clubs are located. The beach is wide, made of sand and pebbles, and houses a 16th-century watchtower at its end. In addition, two famous rocks rise in front: they are called the “Two Brothers”! Click here to learn about the legend surrounding them.

5. The Blue Alley

In Marina di Vietri there is one alley that is among the most popular and Instagrammable places in the village: it is the so-called “blue alley”! You can find it in Via Giuseppe Pellegrino. It’s the perfect spot to take an iconic picture!

  • In the Villa Comunale of Vietri there is also a small amphitheater, used to host events and concerts.
  • In the Villa Guariglia Museum there is an entire section devoted to “riggiole,” that is the famous glazed ceramic tiles.
  • Another noteworthy work of art in the Church of San Giovanni Battista is the altarpiece: it dates back to 1732 and was made by Pietro de Rosa.
