The Festival in Scala

The Chestnut Festival, a blend of tradition and innovation

One of the most eagerly awaited events of the autumn on the Amalfi Coast returns again this year. The Chestnut Festival will be the highlight of the second and third weekends of October, with lots of events and food stands. But why chestnuts? Scala is one of the lesser-known villages on the Amalfi Coast: it is located in the hills and is surrounded by the green Lattari Mountains, where chestnut trees abound. For this reason, chestnuts play an important role in the village in autumn and are also present in many traditional dishes, from first courses to desserts!
The 48th edition of the festival is part of a new project called “The Magic of the Elements. Itineraries through light, water, and local crafts,” which aims to invite everyone to discover the beauty of the Amalfi Coast throughout the year and to experience the most authentic aspects of the villages that make it up.

The 48th edition's program

Some of the most popular events of the festival are back again this year, such as the Palio delle Contrade, with traditional games and donkey races, and others such as traditional Campania music with Dance Tarantella and the more pop and modern performance by Emiliana Cantone and Mr Hyde. Let's find out more!

The first day of the festival, Saturday, October 11, will be enlivened by Dance Tarantella, who will bring the upbeat music of the Tammorra and traditional dances from southern Italy, such as the pizzica and the tarantella, to Scala.

The highlight of Saturday, October 18, will be the show by Emiliana Cantone and Mr. Hyde: their melodies and contemporary sounds will engage the entire audience for sure!

Finally, Sundays will be dedicated to children, with workshops, games, and activities related to the magic of autumn on the Amalfi Coast.

In short, the Chestnut Festival will not only offer excellent food, but also tradition and fun: come to Scala on the weekends in October to experience the village like never before!
